North Pointe is committed to four core Academic values:
1. Hire teachers who want to spend their day with teenagers, who own the responsibility to motivate each student and who can cause learning.
2. Provide safe and disruptive free classroom environments.
3. Engage students by encouraging them to express their classroom learning experiences.
4. Assign homework for the purpose of retention and preparation.
High School Courses
Most elite academic schools offer High School Honors or Advanced Placement (AP) courses. However, few allow a student to take regular core classes in one subject area and Honors or AP in another. Typically, students have to choose either all regular or all excelerated courses for the four core subject areas. At North Pointe we allow students to choose based upon their interest level and we do not have 'placement tests' for any of our Honors or AP courses. In fact, 15 of a students 15 core credits (English 4 , Math 4 , Science 3, Social Studies 4) can be regular classes or 13 of the 15 core credits can be Honors or AP. Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, all 16 core credits can be Honors or AP. North Pointe also offers 28 High School Elective courses.

Although we are very aware of the pros and cons of standardized testing, our students will graduate into a world where, regardless of occupation, they will be required to demonstrate their knowledge - especially if they want to advance their career. Therefore, whether it is a unit quiz or the SAT, North Pointe has created a culture where students are inspired to approach each test with confidence and a desire to demonstrate what they know.
